SPRING-SUMMER 2011, COLLECTION

For summer 2011, IKKS Boys & Girls flagship lines have been inspired by romantic, chic, rock and urban themes. Styles are mixed, featuring lots of flowered prints for the girls and “underground” markings for the boys, all with an eccentric touch of rock that is still the mainstay of the brand.

Kid Girls (2 to 8 years): Girls are chic and rebellious. Uniforms have inspired the “factory worker” style. Little insects, such as spiders, feature on badges for a quirky look. The idea is a “tender army” look, like children wandering the streets of South America. Colours are warm, clothes are light. Featuring flower-print shirt dresses, vintage denim, printed skinny trousers, leather waistcoats and leggings, an air of Havana breezes over the collection, and what's more, the BB myth is trendier than ever. Mini shorts and little dresses give the feeling of seaside walks, where girls play the starlet with hairbands and a long necklace of beads.

Boys (2 to 14 years): The line is inspired by New York “arty” sketches. The American flag has been revisited and mat and shiny mix to keep a refined, yet urban, spirit. Traces of dry paint and typing errors on the back, combined with a uniform-like waistcoat and tie, make for a cool look. A little bit dandy, a little bit poetic, boys show a bad boy side with a sensitive soul. Splashes of pink, beige and white contrast with the khaki and blues that make up the essential tones of next summer’s wardrobe.

Junior girls (8 to 18 years): Three universes so girls can preen themselves in front of their wardrobes. A chic rock and rebellious spirit for a line featuring black and navy, uplifted with electric blue. A more urban military spirit that is an eclectic mix of different universes, making a casual look. A striped pullover or t-shirt is worn with a denim mini-skirt, or a cardigan with a little flouncy top is worn over battle Bermuda shorts. The laundry line is a mellow universe of pastels and worn denim. Feminine shapes in cotton veil and English lace give a casual look to the junior girl, who completes her wardrobe with a selection of weaves, such as the army-style middy blouse and fake two-in-one long cardigan.

Baby (3-24 months): In grey and white, the baby girl line mixes styles and trends. Splashes of indigo, pink and red make for pretty, girly looks.

Swansdown is the delight of the baby boy line: baggy trousers, customised jacket, all-in-ones, T-shirts with authentic marks, multiple shapes, etc.

It’s back to roots for a colourful 2011. Chic rock/rebel, vintage and preppy styles make up the heart of the IKKS Junior collections.
